- Q – “I have manual climate and the bottom right corner of my screen just has the date. Will this add the on screen controls?”
- A – No. There is not a cost effective way to add automatic climate control.
- Q – “Will this add SYNC Connect / FordPass controls from my phone?”
- A – No. SYNC Connect is a separate modem optioned in some vehicles. We do not currently offer a kit to add this functionality.
- Q – “Will this kit void my factory warranty?”
- A – No. This kit will not void your vehicle warranty. Although Ford will not warranty the components in our kit, we do for one full year!
- Q – “Can I still update the SYNC software when updates are available?”
- A – Yes. You will still be able to update SYNC via USB thumb drive from our software updates page HERE.
- Q – “Will this kit affect my SiriusXM subscription?”
- A – No. SiriusXM subscriptions are NOT affected by our kit - your SiriusXM ID will remain the same.

**Regardless if your SYNC 2 system is navigation equipped or not, you will need to select "Navigation Version" option under "Kit Options" if you would like SYNC 3 to have navigation.

Just wanted to reach out and say thank you for the awesome customer service. The DIY installation video was spot on, and because of that I had my new unit installed in about an hour. If I had anything to add I would recommend at first to leave the bezel loosely fitted, then turn on the power and make sure that the head unit is mounted level by checking for an equal amount of dark space between the edges of the head unit’s display and the bezel frame. I didn't do this and I wound up taking everything apart and refitting the head unit and bezel.

Sync 3 upgrade
I was very pleased with the installation process and simple plug and play from 2013 Taurus Sync 2 to the Sync 3 systems. You just follow the video and it is very easy to do yourself. The only thing I was disappointed with was Sync 3 is not compatible with wireless Apple play (only Sync 4) and 4DTech did not offer me a trade in value for the Sync 2 unit.

It took me about an hour, but with the help of the video it was easy. Everything works as it should.

Perfect!!
Installation went VERY smoothy (took me a bit longer than the description, about 1.5hrs start to finish), but overall, the video showed EXACTLY what needs to be done, every screw was exactly as shown & the process was super easy for anyone who can use a screwdriver and has some basic skills. The product works perfectly, no issues so far after about a month installed! I would NOT purchase the NAV option again, as there is no way to update the maps because you remove the SD card slot for the SYNC 2 maps and the VIN is still tied to a SYNC2 unit so you cannot get SYNC3 map updates from Ford...
